Students interested in taking the ACT in South Africa may find available test centers by searching the ACT website (as of right now, there are three national locations that offer the exam). International test dates (outside of the United States and Canada) are set in advance by ACT, and there are five annual administrations (one each in September, October, December, April, and June). Registration deadlines are typically about five weeks before the date of the test. The questions on four of the ACT's five sections are entirely multiple choice (English, math, reading, and science), while the writing assessment is based on a single essay. In addition to total and sectional scores of 1-36, students also receive scores in a number of different skill areas within the individual ACT sections. We advise all of our ACT clients to carefully review all of the available testing data associated with their preferred universities, which will reveal institutional ACT standards and expectations.

Meet a Port Elizabeth ACT Tutor: Richard F.

Richard F. has been teaching ACT classes and tutoring students on an individual basis since his first year of graduate school in 2008. His efforts as an ACT educator have helped more than 700 students gain acceptance to selective universities in the United States and Canada. Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, he began his ACT teaching career in the New York City region, and moved to Port Elizabeth last year.

Richard completed his undergraduate studies in mathematics at Pennsylvania State University, and then earned a master's degree in education at the City University of New York's Graduate Center. He was a math teacher at four high schools in and near New York, and he now works at an international school in Port Elizabeth when he's not teaching ACT prep. Richard's outside interests include pottery, basketball, and tai chi.
